The idea for the mudguard raised at the beginning of 2024 racing season, when Seton Tunning DH team asked as for longer alternative for short stock mudguard available with RockShox BoXXer forks.
The first challenge was to find actual BoXXer fork for fitting. It turned out that new, 2024 version was quite rare in Poland at beginning of the season.
the opportunity arose after UCI DHI round at Bielsko Biała. The team left bikes at VisionVelo for more than a week to not transport them back and forth across Europe before next round. So we started 3D scanning, designing, prototyping …
The timing was challenging, but first fully functional prototype was created in less than one week. We wanted to design something functional, durable and aesthetic at the same time. It’s not trivial. DH racing is demanding. There are plenty of impacts and vibrations, fender has to deal with.
Next, the prototypes have been tested during rounds at Leogang and Val di Sole.
Basing on feedback from real racing, we modified mudguard dimensions, also significantly reinforced the construction. The second generation of mudguard went to the team for further testing during next World Cup round at Les Gets and further races.
The second generation of the mudguard turned out to be very successful and with minor adjustments is permanently used by the team during racing.
